Porque atribuir a um refrigerador o mesmo nome de um rio? Nilo é um dos rios mais extensos do mundo, suas águas férteis atravessam quatro países e mudaram a história da humanidade. Guardada a devida proporção, a proposta do refrigerador Nilo é mudar a vida das pessoas. A falta de acesso à refrigeração de alimentos resulta em desperdícios relevantes de recursos e em higiene precária do ambiente. O Nilo é um pequeno refrigerador movido à energia solar da marca Youmma (nome também desenvolvido por nós). Seu baixo custo, entre outros fatores, o torna acessível às pessoas de baixíssima renda de todo o mundo.

Além dos elementos espaciais coincidentes, há também um aspecto técnico que beneficia o nome: Nilo é uma palavra curta e pronunciável em vários idiomas.

O rio Nilo nasce na África, assim como o projeto do refrigerador. A pesquisa de campo ocorreu no Quênia e foi realizada pela equipa Youmma, que deixou evidente a necessidade da população local por uma solução de refrigeração compatível com sua realidade.

The lack of access to a food cooling solution results in significant waste of these resources and a low level of hygiene in the environment. The “Nilo” is a small solar powered refrigerator from the Youmma brand (name also developed by us). Among other factors, its low cost makes it accessible to people of very low income from all over the world. The Nile River is born in Africa, just as the refrigerator project was born. It was in Kenya where the field research, carried out by the Youmma team, took place, which showed people’s need for a cooling solution compatible with their reality. In addition to the coincidences, there are also the technical strengths of this name: “Nilo” is a short word and pronounceable in several languages.
